![]() In addition to its comfortable, elegant rooms, the hotel has four separate dining areas, a spa with fitnessįacilities, and all the other amenities associated with a four-star resort. There is a small, white-sand beach, and a lounging-raft about thirty yards into the sea. The 142-room Pier House is a crazyquilt of two-story buildings containing units of differing size, no two of which are alike except for their high quality, insouciant, tropical decor and furnishings: wicker chairs, ceiling paddle fans, bathrooms that occasionally contain Jacuzzis and bidets, other units with gaily beflowered comforters, and all of the units surrounded by the lushest tropical growth you can imagine. Low-season rates (March 16 to December 24) are $195 standard, $250 for garden-view rooms, $300 for spa rooms, $350 for harborfront rooms. High-season (December 25 to March 15) are $275 for standard rooms, $335 for garden-view rooms, $400 spa rooms, $450 harborfront rooms. Squarely within the historic Old Town of Key West. Below I've printed a review from one resort that Frommer's recommended, which I visited for its spa services while I was there and I thought it looked very nice (didn't check out the rooms or the beach however - but the grounds were pretty & the spa was excellent). If you want a resort that you can stay and spend a lot of time hanging out on premises, then IMO this is not your place…just not enough to do and you’re being charged for it anyway.Leslie: I sent you an e-mail earlier today with responses to a bunch of the questions you asked, but you may not have gotten it yet (hopefully you will). So if you want a great location in Key West that is easily walkable to most places, clean and nice, and you don’t mind the extra cost of being at a “resort”, then this is a great place. I questioned it and they offered free breakfast (which is really free because I’m not going to stiff the servers), and a couple of free drinks at the bar, which we did not go to anymore. I’ve been to resorts where I can see why they charge a separate resort fee…I just couldn’t see it here. Not enough activities or other events to justify the charge. I just don’t think you get enough in “services” to charge this. ![]() This seems ridiculous in my opinion because this is a charge for providing the resort services. We had two rooms so for 4 nights, the resort fee was about $500. ![]() One of the biggest issues I had was the resort fee charge on top of the cost of staying here. Bar prices are about what you’d expect for a resort…on the higher side. They told us it would be open until 8, and the original hours stated pool bar open until 11. We arrived at pool around 6:30, and they started closing the bar about 10 minutes later. We arrive around 5 and looked forward to just relaxing by pool to start and having a few drinks. The Not-So-Good: Services provided and things to do. Room was ultra clean and cleaning service always came early in day. Upkeep and cleanliness of resort was fantastic. We drove from Miami so no getting around that. Parking was about $250 for us for 4 nights. ![]() If you can avoid having a car, that is a plus as they will charge you quite a bit for parking, and you don’t need a car once there. which is where tons of restaurants, shops, bars etc. Right on the water with a small private beach. It really depends on what you’re looking for as to whether this resort is for you or not.
